I would guess that any ATM or Frame Relay, ISDN, or
BVR circuit interface could create an unnumbered interface. However, I
would also say that most router IOS will allow an address to be placed on the
interface (if you don't route to it, doesn't matter if it has an address or
not). In Cisco-land, ATM interfaces are unnumbered but the PVCs associated with
it must have addresses.
Thanks for the info. The main thing with our issue though, is
that we don't have any Cisco devices on our network at all.....very
weird.
From what I have seen they are Cisco CDP neighbors that were
discovered during a daily configuration poll. I have only seen it on some of
the newer device types from Cisco.

Could anybody tell me
where the 0.0.0.0 interfaces come from in router objects? I have two
core routers that have only ever had 1 or 2 0.0.0.0 interfaces
discovered....now they both have about 50.....what could this be coming
from ?
