The file /usr/OV/conf/C/oid_to_sym is the one that tells NetView what icon to use for any given SNMP agent. You can either modify it with serversetup or you can simply hack it with an editor (much easier if you have several entries IMHO). You provide the OID for the SNMP agent type, the basic shape (Computer for square box, Connector for diamond shape, etc) and the sub-symbol (which can be anything you can see from the Help -> Legend display of devices. You obviously have SNMP access to your devices from what you say so get the system variables from your devices to get the OID.

Jane

Hi list,

I have a TNV 7.1.4 for AIX. I have many routers, switches and AIX boxes
with SNMP running and the proper CommunityName configured at NetView. The
problem is that even having the SNMP running and the MIB Browser can
retrieve all SNMP values, the icon displayed is the old flat square with
no icon inside.
Shouldn´t NV display the proper icon type for each SNMP device ?

One more detail: this happened after a complete clear database command and
a full rediscovery process.

Any help is appreciated.

Mario
