Jane,

Unfortunatelly, that´s not it. I am using both the NetView User Interface
through a X-Window session and the Web Console Interface.

I cleared all databases again and started a new discovery process. I also
altered my seedfile to contain only gateways (routers and core switches),
just to see what would happen.

I have now several routers and switches represented as they should, like
Gateways and Multi-port devices respectivelly. But none of these devices,
I mean the ones with the right symbol, appear at the proper
SmartSet(!!??).

I double-checked with the MIB browser and the expected fields (the ones
that are used to filter) are filled correctly, for example:

=> vendor = 'cisco Systems' or 'IBM' or 'American Power Conversion'
=> SNMP Agent = 'Cisco Switch' or 'Cisco Router' or 'APC PowerNet SNMP
Agent'

So, all devices that appear inside the Cisco Switch SmartSet are indeed
what they are supposed to be, but none of them have the proper symbol.
Conversely, all Cisco Switches that are identified correctly with the
Multi-port symbol are not in the SmartSet (???!!!). The same thing happens
to Routers, No-Breaks, NetWare Servers, etc.

Odd ...

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Mario
