Have a
nice day

I made good
experience loading/saving the gif with xpaint (www.bullfreeware.com) as gif87a
in 16 color.

Nope didn't work, still reports the same message. I'm a bit
stuck on this now, this was supposed to be the easy bit. I have 2 files,
saved by the same gif editor in exactly the same format, one loads okay the
other is not found. The gif87a format wrappers are identical, e.g. signature, screen descriptor,
global colour map etc. Only the data, i.e. the pictures are different.
I see no no error messages going to the
NV.log or the event log, where else can I look ? Does Netview use
common standard library for loading the gif files ? Andy

Hi,
Problem is some of the backdrops work and some dont, they are all
specifed as 87a format and 256
colours, pixel depth 8 bits. I will try and reduce the number of specified
colours to see if it helps. Thanks for the idea. Andy

if I remember
correctly the gif must have maximal 16 colors.

We are running Netview V5R1
on digital unix 4.0F. I have to set the background of various submaps to customised
displays. I have the problem that in some cases the bitmap works, in
others netview reports "background file not found"
The file format is the same in
all cases gif 87a Interlace, the files are all in the same place !
Does
any one have any ideas ? is the a relevant patch / work around. I have tried xpm file but
the quality drops too much. Many thanks Andy Pearce
