As you're looking for possible answers/products, did you know there is 
an MRTG/RRDTool to NetView integration package
called OverTime from NETic?
Point and shoot from the NetView gui, can use templates to define 
collections, then snmpCollect does the collections
and the data is graphed with RRDTool.
