Sorry but you cannot do either one.
The menu options in nvevents are not customizable; and there is a reason
that "suppress traps from unmanaged nodes" cannot be set as a default.
The reason is that it takes a long time to query the database, get all the
unmanaged nodes, build a huge filter consisting of a long string of
"!node1 && !node2 && !node3 . . . ", and then run all the initial events
through it. If it is set by default, then the user might have to wait as
long as fifteen minutes before the event window gets any events. This is
especially true when the GUI is first started, because ipmap is also
querying the database while synchronizing, which means that it takes even
longer to get the unmanaged node information. In NetView Version 3 and
earlier, it was allowed to set this option "on" by default, but the number
of calls that Support got from operators who claimed that nvevents was
broken because it took so long to populate the window was huge. So
development removed that as a start-up option. You can click it after the
event window fills, but by doing so, you have agreed to the processing
overhead that it takes. If you like, you can clear the prior events from
your workspace after you set the filter.

Hello List,
Running AIX 5.2 Netview 7.1.4 FP3
I created a new event window/dynamic workspace and need to change grey out
by default some of the menu options.
In particular Options à Change Severity à From all workspace/From All
Users. I want "From all users" greyed out.
Also, have "suppressed traps from unmanaged nodes" checked by default.
Has anyone done this before? I want the default event window to remain
intact and only apply these changes to the dynamic workspace. Eventually,
this dynamic workspace will come up along with the default event window.
Thanks,
Catalina
