while your NetView server (hardware and software) is stable and runs and runs with no problems, your network is not stable. So eventually Netview will discover a device which can have some MIB issues which can cause NetView a problem. Someone else may have experienced this particular item before, if so the fixpack will resolve it. SNMP is great, just not everyone implements it the same. Any SNMP manager such as NetView has to handle non-standard things that other developers have done.
