Agreed. We got a quote to 'migrate' a few months ago--around $350K with
discount; this didn't include failover capability. Our NV is medium
sized, about 20,000 objects. Jaws dropped--we've been paying around $5K
per year total for primary/secondary server NV and TEC maintenance. We
need L2 badly, and Netcool is good stuff. The price makes you think
twice though.

From what I have heard from IBM sales, you better get your BIG check

book out. But you had better ask you sales directly. I wish it was
that simple.
Our Netview came packaged with all our Tivoli products.
The two Netcool products you need to duplicate the functionality of
Netview, are Omnibus (which runs the DB and does the trap management)
and Precision IP which does the L2 and L3 discovery and all the other
good stuff.

We are not sure what to do either.
Netview is a great product but we really would like a better L2
discovery tool then the L2 Correlation product, which is very expensive

because of its pricing model. ($ per host processors and $ per switch
port).
I believe the Netcool product has similar pricing.

If IBM would only make us a deal we couldn't refuse.
