There is no need to alter any NetView traps. Bill's explanation was meant to show you how to differentiate between agent traps, sent by devices in your network, and NetView internal traps.
The fix for "false downs" is to adjust your polling parameters.

Does changing the polling interval resolves the issue do I need to change the Source type from Netview to Agent in Trap customization?
