To activate a SmartSet, you just need to go into (or open) it with the NetView standard interface (GUI on Unix and I think the console on Windows).
activated? that seems to be the issue, I was creating new smart sets and seeing nothing in in them. So how do I acitvate? (reminds me of the old cartoon "wonder twin powers - activate! shape of the internet!") SmartSets are dynamic collections, so rules that are running will see all additions/removals from a SmartSet as they occur.
do you need to restart nvcorrd if you use the smartset editor to do that? thanks! Nodes don't have a field 'IP Address'. That's an attribute of an interface. So you are getting a list of Selection Names of interfaces or Networks. Nodes do have a field called 'SNMP ipAddress'. I tried making a smartset based on ip's: nvUtil e '("IP Address" ~ "19.39.*.*")' But the results that I get are not nodes but something else: How do I make a smartset, based on a range of ip's, AND get actual nodes in it? Thanks in advance
