Well, the message is self-explanatory. Bring up the administrative console, Server Setup, and check the daemon status and restart trapd. The check Dr. Watson to see whether it crashed.

If it continues to fail, then you will have to open a problem to IBM Support as I suggested.

RE: [NV-L] help

I didn’t knew attachments are not supported. I am explaining the problem here -
The pop up message was showing – “Event Browser – Tivoli NetView: The Trap Daemon is not storing events in the SQL database or it is not running. Only existing events will be displayed.
I am using Windows. Web console Event Browsed is being opened but it’s not showing the newly arrived traps/events and showing the above error message. I am able to open the maps.
Thanx for the reply.

Re: [NV-L] help

First of all, the nv-l list does not support attachments, so your screen shot was not uploaded.
Next, how do you know that the trap daemon is not working? Did you do "ovstatus trapd"?
Then, what platform are you using, Windows, or some flavor of UNIX?
Is this the web console event browser that is not working or the native one on that platform?
Can you open any maps?

In short, if you need emergency help, then you should open a problem to IBM Support in your local geography, as participation on this list is totally voluntary. It is designed to answer questions that are not of a pressing nature.
