Did your supplier configure the box to send traps to NetView? He would
have to know the hostname or ip address for that. If he says he did, then
you can check whether they are getting to the NetView box by doing an
iptrace on the NetView box for port 162 and see if they arrive. If they
arrive and you still don't see them in the events window, then check
trapd.log. They might be configured in your system already as "log only"
though that seems pretty unlikely, unless you ran a script to add the traps
that the supplier provided you.

Subject: Receiving traps from UM link
Hi there,
We configured an UM-link box to send traps (UPS behaviour) to our
netview server (AIX 4.1 nv 4). The box is known in netview as an
ip-node and demand poll is functioning ok. The supplier checked the
umlink hardware and configuration and concluded no problems.
Besides the above, we installed some PC-software (Solution Pac 97 Wan
manager) which is also using um-link, and that software is functioning
ok.
Does anybody have suggestions to help me solve the problem getting the
traps in Netview?
Regards,
Cornelis Jacobi
