The labels show up if you have the resolution for it. If you have a nice
monitor on a Windows box,
do the properties thing that lets you change the resolution of the display
to 1280x1024, and if your
map is of reasonable density, the labels will appear. Same as on the server
console. Icons too
small => no labels.
There are some entries in app-defaults/OVw to give you control over how
small they have to get
before the labels disappear (on the server) but I've found that the default
settings are the nicest,
and use it as an indicator that my map is too complex. I wonder what
changing that would do to
the web client? Nothing? Something awful? If you try it, don't change it
much. Like drop it from
8 to 6 or something. Otherwise they end up overlapping a lot.

Hi,
I just tried the adding a background image then removing it and it worked.
Now my web interface shows the maps correctly. I guess we should add this
to the workaround list!
Another quick question regarding the Web Interface. Mine does not show the
labels for my symbols until I click on the symbol. Is this how it is
supposed to work? Is this simply a fonts issue? Is there a way to increase
the size of the fonts?
Cheers

Subject: Re: Web Server Security
Some partial answers..
1) I have heard that you can run more than one web server. There was an
efix to allow Netview to run from
a port other than 80, which worked, so the fix in 5.1.1 should work.
2) I saw one last week that was still kind of squished after 5.1.1, but
someone on this list suggested adding
a background gif and bang! it straightened right out. Wierder still,
after
I removed the background gif it
stayed nice. I also noticed that when the web browser was Netscape on
AIX,
how good it looked had
some dependancy on the amount of resources available. We could not
figure
out how to modify the
resources (like disk cache and memory) for the Internet Explorer so I
don't
know. I do know that for
Netscape on Intel we recommend some big numbers, like 30MB and 50MB (I
can't seem to find where
that is documented, so I'm not sure which is which).

Hi all,
I am running Netview 5.1 over Framework 3.6 on AIX 4.3.2. I have
couple
issues/problems with the Web server.
1. I run other things on my Netview machine, and require web access for
those. THe thing is, I don't want users to have to type in a username
and
password to access my non-Netview web pages, but I do want Netview
security
turned on. Is there a way to do this? I've heard of having Netview
running
over a different port in Netview 5.1.1? Would this solve my problem? (I
don't currently have Netview 5.1.1). Or is this an AIX issue, where I'd
have to install 2 web servers on one machine? (not sure if that's even
possible)...
2. As I've mentioned earlier in this discussion, my IP root map does
not
take up the full available screen and is shrunk and pushed to the top
left
corner.. Anyone else have similar problems?
THanks for your time!
