I would not conclude that migrating is necessarily "fraught" with problems. I strongly endorse James Shanks' correct way of doing things unless you have the specific situation where the "fast migration" is applicable, that is, all you want to preserver is your trapd.conf customizations and your current maps and the new NetView 5.1.1 has all the applications that your old NetView 4.1 install had. In this specific case, the tar and untar of the /usr/OV/database directory is simple, easy and 'bulletproof'. Regards, ken kgarst@giantofmaryland.com |
