Hmm - Ok allow me to rephrase my previous statement... the SNMP agent portion of
1.0.2 seems to operate with NetView better than the SNMP agent in 1.0.3 - I have
seen this DMI process problem and I recall my solution was to disable this
process from starting - so I guess I forgot that it was an issue
If you need to run DMI on this box, I guess 1.0.3 is the best option - however,
if you only need the SNMP agent, disable DMI from starting and use 1.0.2 -
netmon seems to be a lot happier with this version of the agent - we are
investigating what the problem is with the SNMP agent in 1.0.3 - for now - I
would still recommend 1.0.2
hope that helps!

Jason Kravitz,
You mentioned that SEA 1.0.2 was more stable and compliant with NetView. I
have had a problem where our CPU hitting 100 % and staying there. This has
happened multiple times and I have narrowed it down to the DMI process.
When I look at the release notes for 1.0.3
http://www.sun.com/solstice/products/ent.agents/docs/releasehtml/release_not
es103.doc.html
<http://www.sun.com/solstice/products/ent.agents/docs/releasehtml/release_no
tes103.doc.html>
it states
Bugs fixed in this release
4112330:
Desc: DMI service provider spins out of control consuming
100% of idle CPU when servicing a longer service request
It seems that we don't have much of a alternative but to go to 1.0.3 to
solve this problem. My testing is on an Ultra 1 Solaris 3.6 system. For
production we are planning on an SUN E450.
Please advise.
I captured some information below on vmstat.

When I stop the dmispd process it clears up the CPU problem.

I'd recommend using 1.0.2 - this seems to be the most stable and compliant
with
NetView

Subject: Solstice Enterprise Agents for NetView 5.1.1
I am installing NetView 5.1.1 on a Solaris 2.6 system. Is there a
recommendation or a requirement to utilize a specific version of the
Solstice Enterprise Agents in this environment? Currently version 1.0.1 is
running on the system. I have seen that version 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 are
available per the SUN website.
Thanks for your assistance.
