Steve,
Tavve integrates with NetView (as well as HP OpenView I'm told) and must have a
base management platform to run on at this time. Don't know if that will
change in the future.
Yes, the EventWatch piece does filtering, suppression and correlation as well
as RCA. When we receive an event, we see "Device x.x.x.x is down, device
y.y.y.y is unreachable" where applicable.
Hope this helps...

Don,
Does Tavve integrate with NetView or run independently? Also, does it do any
RCA or just filtering, suppression and correlation?

Subject: Re: [NV-L] root cause analysis
We've been using Tavve's EventWatch for quite a while now. Works pretty
well for Layer 3.
The newer versions have many Layer 2 features and Frame Relay analysis. We
have a large ATM backbone and don't get a lot of analysis at the ATM layer.

Does anyone have a good recommendation (for or against) a solution to
"root
cause analysis" in NetView? I've read about SMARTS' InCharge and it sounds
good. Are there any other solutions to consider. Thanks, Tom G.
