I am using NV 6.0.1, AIX 4.3.3 on a RS6000 H80. I did not locates the
/etc/snmp.conf file. Message comes up on the alert screen.

AIX? Solaris? NT? It helps if you tell us (a) what platform, (b) what
release, and (c) how you determied this to be the problem.
But basically you have to match the configuration for the read community
name for snmpd (see /etc/snmp.conf on AIX for example) with what occurs in
xnmsnmpconf.
