James, Back to the original problem I was experiencing while adding new nodes..... After an nvload of an object, trapd records that it has been added, etc. The obobjprint -s shows that it's in the database, however no mention of which map it is in....The objects do not show up on the default map (I used the locate command), nor on any other map....It has been suggested that nvTurboDatabase command has been used to solve similar problems, but I'm wary of using that command. Could this be a database size problem, limitations in the number of nodes the map can display?? Any suggestions at this point? If you have only one map, then the name of that map is "default", unless you chae nge. Most people don't because if you do then you have to specify what map name to start with, or else NetView will create a new map and name it "default" as well. When you do ovobjprint -s <selection name> typically the last thing that you see is an item which reads <map name> IP Symbol List If you have only one map then it reads "default IP Symbol List" When you have Map Exists and Maps Managed set to 1 then this device is on a map somewhere, and the IP Symbol List tells you what map it is in (though not which submap). To find it you have t bring up the GUI with that map and do a Locate. The -s option with a node name or a -o with the object ID show me all the fields. I see OVW Maps Exists and OVW Maps Managed fields (both set to 1) but nowhere in the list do I see a map name. ovtopodump doesn't show this, either. NV 6.0.1 on Solaris 2.6. If not, do a refresh. If so ... Try looking for it. Do Locate using the object name in the trap. If it is not found, try ovobjprint -s <selection name> and see what you get. It should tell you what maps it appears in (either "default" or some other name). You found it in the database but it is still not there? ipmap batches things and does his updates every couple of minutes so as not to always have te GUI say "synchronizing". It may seem slow if you are hovering there waiting for it. You could try forcing it by taking down the GUI and restarting it. Just ran into a problem where a freshly added node has not appeared in the New Object Holding area, or anywhere else on the map for that matter...the trapd.log records it's addition, and the Events window is recieving traps for it....any ideas where this may be or why it's not on the map?
