Hello Everyone.

NV 7.1.1 on AIX 4.3.3

I'm working on forwarding node down events to TEC. The event forwarding
works fine. The question is how can NV identify for TEC whether a node is an
NT server or a router? This is especially important if the node name cannot
be resolved. If we can help TEC identify the device type, the TEC operators
will know who to correctly page because we can customize TEC "Event Support"
button.

For instance, I can use Query SmartSet node in a ruleset to forward node
downs for members of the MicroSoft SmartSet. Therefore all node downs TEC
receives would be NT servers. However, what if I want to start forwarding
Cisco network equipment failures or all node down events. How can I help TEC
determine the device type?

I tried adding a prefix to the hostname by using an Inline Action node in
the ruleset like, NVATTR_2="NT-$NVATTR_2". But the node name remained the
same in the event.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
