Paul,  The trap will arrive with the port number since there is no IP address?

I suppose I could always poll the MIB for the status of the ports I want. I was hoping
I could see layer 2 status and act on status changes.

Maybe the trap config is the best way.

If you can configure your switch to send a trap for the port when it
goes down. You should be able to do whatever you want when you
