Karl: If you go with the ovobjprint route, your script should be similar for each NNM & NetView. Therefore, you should need only one script. If done in PERL, there should be no difference in the scripting (one script needed). -Milt Milton W. All, Thanks for the advice. I think I'll end up on the ovobjprint route filtering on isXXXXX attributes. The slightly sticky side of what I need to do is that it has to work (or be similar) on Netview and NNM (not my choice!) - I want to avoid two totally different scripts. I don't need huge amounts of data right now - what I can see from ovobjprint looks like enough to satisfy the requirement & the elements are common between the two. Thanks to all. Hi Karl, Have you discarded the nvdbformat utility for some reason? I use this in scripts sometimes - one of the things we have looked at is using nvdbformat to analyse an existing NetView object database to produce an ASCII file which can be used to create a DNS. nvdbformat can produce either ASCII text or html output - there are sample files provided to get you started. I've thrown away my "2 awk's 3 sed's and a grep" ovobjprint scripts since they introduced nvdbformat.
