That message is usually accompanied by another clause complaining about snmp and 127.0.0.1. Was that there? That always means that you have changed the read community string for the Netview server in /etc/snmpd.conf and have NOT made a corresponding change in xnmsnmpconf. The AIX guys at my current shop just did it to us. Try 'xnmsnmpconf -resolve <netviewhostname>' and see what it is using for the read community to talk to itself. And compare that to the /etc/snmpd.conf file. If they don't match any more, launch 'xnmsnmpconf' from the commandline, or 'Options..SNMP config' from the map, and add or update the entry for the Netview box address AND 127.0.0.1 with the new community. I can’t seem to be able to start netmon daemon this morning. I went to netmon.trace file and I got following recommendation: “the /usr/OV/conf/snmpmib and /usr/OV/conf/snmpmib.bin files are corrupted and need to be rebuilt using the Maintain->Rebuild MIB binary file with installation MIB defaults option in NetView configuration menu” which I did but that didn’t work. Any clues? Thank you, Herman E. Caballero
