Vladan,
That if fine. I think this is how it works.
Netviewd was build in order to have your map open all the time, because
NetVeiw Java/Web interface needs it in order to work properly. Before
netviewd, you had to have user open the map, but now netviewd replaces
that user. Think of it as a second "virtual" user of your map
application.
In you case netviewd had your map in R/W mode so you could only open it
in R mode.
Do you use web interface?
If you don't use web interface you can kill neviewd and ovdelobj its LRF
file, or use netview -dconsole.
I think that is how it works.

Subject: RE: [nv-l] Maps in Read-Only mode
Hi all,
I have restarted all the daemons, netviewd also. You can see the output
od the ovtstaus bellow for netviewd, and the map is RO.
object manager name: netviewd
behavior: OVs_WELL_BEHAVED
state: RUNNING
PID: 17072
last message: Initialization complete, opened map '063' as
Read-Write.
exit status: -
But netview -dconsole worked fine. I do not know hows that possible,
since I am the only one who works on the machine. Probably, this is the
reason I did not try it, after all I have restarted all the daemons.
Many thanks to Paul and James for the tips, I am on a steep learning
curve (I hope that this is not at your expence).
Have a nice day,

All the daemons? Even netviewd? If he's running, stop him.
