The switch itself (the ip of the management agent of the switch) might
still respond to ping but the switch might not be providing the
connectivity on it's ports.
You should check the itsl2 events that have been sent. You can also check
what ports are up or down in the mib of the switch.

What version of itsl2 are you using ? if version 1.3 do you have port
polling enabled ?

That i know, but what concerns me is that why does it shows it as "Down"
when the device is Not Down...?

Each switch has a "Layer2status" object at the interface level with an ip
0.0.0.0. This object represent the layer 2 status of the switch. The
"ContainerLayer2Status" container (at the network level) is just there to
contain all the different "Layer2Status" of the different switch that have
been discovered by itsl2. If it show red, it means that all the switches
discovered by itsl2 have been correlated as down by itsl2.

Hi,

We have NetView7.1.4 FP3 with Switch Analyzer installed on Windows Machine.
We have One Cisco(2950) switch on LAN. The NetView shows a symbol
"ContainerLayer2Status" in red and when i open it there is an inteface with
"0.0.0.0" ip address and it shows it as down. What is that "0.0.0.0"
interface and why is it down?
