IY56323 is involved in this. It was in 7.1.4. FP2 and 7.1.3 FP3 on Unix. I'll bet a similar problem exists in Windows but was not fixed. Read about it on the support webpage at UNIX The NMAVAILABILITY=TRUE flag in the netmon.conf file does not work. Regardless of the setting in the netmon.conf file, no available data was created in the /usr/OV/databases/availData_yyymmdd file. On the support web page http://www-306.ibm.com/software/sysmgmt/products/support/IBMTivoliNetView.html, under Self-help, Solve a Problem, APARS, search on NMAVAILABILITY There is helpful information in that apar. I'd guess you have to enable it by setting the variable in netnmrc, if there is an equivalent in Windows. Cordially, Leslie A. Clark IBM Global Services On Demand - Network Mgmt Detroit
Hi Ray, Tried this today with a Win 2003, NetView 7.1.4 FP3 (unfortunately FP3 was already installed before I could check....). I see exactly the same as you in netmon.trace and no availability reports - bad news! I know this works on Linux NV 7.1.4 FP3 and, I am pretty certain with AIX. I think this is PMR time. Only approaches I can think of are to back-off the Fixpack and see if it works again (but I need FP3 functionality for Switch Analyzer stuff). The other thing to try is to hacking NMAVAILABILITY in somewhere other than netmon.conf (system environment variable as a crude hammer) - I doubt whether this will work but it might just be worth a go. If you raise a PMR, please let me know the number and I will "me too" on it. If you can't raise a PMR, I should have some time next week to do so.
