Thread-topic: | [NV-L] Interface Down |
Bill,
I'm a little behind in reading the list these days. This
happens to us quite a bit, and no doubt other customers as well. We have
automated ticket generation with CA Service Desk. It's a mess every time it
occurs, and it's a process issue. I grew weary defending NetView when it was
correct 99.9% of the time, and finally wrote a post-mortem process for ops to
follow to determine if the technology failed or the process broke down. It
only covers the 'why'. Training and motivation are what prevent it from
happening in the first place--and that's always a big challenge. Oops, guess I
should have said opportunity
;-) From: Larry Fagan [mailto:larrytechie@yahoo.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2007 9:26 AM To: nv-l@lists.ca.ibm.com Subject: [NV-L] Interface Down I'm trying to resolve an issue with my Ops Team. We have NetView 7.1.3. One of the server went down and Interface down alert was generated and was sent to operations about three days back. Operations closed the ticket without resolving. We have bi-directional event flow from TEC to remedy. My question is, If the event was closed back in TEC, should'nt NetView generate one more interface down alert? or will NetView send down only once and will NOT send Interface down once more for the same Interface? Please help me. Thanks, Bill.
