yes you are quite right. I couldn't able to find out that place or entry
where i should go and tell the
printer about the management stations which are interestered in receiving
traps in NetView.
Does Netview take care of this stuff automatically(i don't thik so)?
i tried on telnet also but there is no entry related to traps.
any other clue....or do you know any other HP application to receive the
traps coming from HP printer.
thanka a lot.

regards
sanjeev

not sure how to enable the traps on your hp - usually, the setup options
will ask you to specify to whom snmp traps should be sent (the trap manager,
specified by ip address/hostname), and what types of traps to send; i.e.,
authentication failure, offline/online, etc. Can you telnet into the
printer and view/change config settings? If yes, is there a snmp option?
On the other hand, it's possible that the printer *is* sending traps, and
that netview is simply displaying them without writing them to a log file
(assuming this is possible.)
