Oliver,
I'm
using Netview 7.1 on Aix4.3.3
When I
did the walk, I do see the neighbor, however, the hostname it shows doesn't
resolve to a valid IP Address in our network.
both
routers are discovered, but not showing as connected.
sounds
like I might need to get on the DNS portion to get that fixed and then
continue.
b
unnumbered
interfaces usually show up with ip address 0.0.0.0. On Cisco devices the unnumbered link is discovered from
the CDP cache. On both sides the
router of the other end has to be there.
I'm not sure but I think this is the place NetView is looking
for: snmpwalk <YourCiscoRouter>
.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.23.1.2.1.1.6
B.t.w. What NetView version? What OS?

Oliver, I have discovered both sides, but there is still
no representation inside the router sub-map to show the interface.... should
there / could there be? b -----Original Message----- From: owner-nv-l@lists.us.ibm.com

to discover the
unnumbered interfaces you have to discover both sides (Routers) of the
unnumbered link.

thanks for the
reply.. I hadn't, but I just went into there and it's set to "yes"
However, when I rediscover a device, it doesn't show any interfaces that
are un-numbered. What should I be expecting to see with an un-numbered
interface? I know they're on the device.. .just doesn't show
them.. b -----Original Message----- From:

Un-numbered Interfaces.
there is an option in the serversetup gui for unnumbered ip
address support. its under the heading of set options for daemons, then set options
for topology , discovery, ... then set options for netmon
daemon
have
you been there?

I have
question that I need some help with. I have a request from a customer to
monitor some cisco "un-numbered" interfaces. I've only ever monitored IP
and IPX interfaces. Anyone here monitoring un-numbered interfaces?
if so, how?
thanks b
