Ok, that's not worth the effort. I am the only one who ever sees NetView
as our operators use TEC.

It was just more of a learning exercise.

If you want a node to refelct a compound status that includes not just
interface status but also MIB thresholds, then I suggest that you look
at
the APM function that you get with the Mid Level Manager.  There are
some
excellent appends on the NetView archive from Leslie Clark if you go
back
far enough.  Otherwise, you have to work pretty jolly hard with APIs to
get the node to change colour as you want.

You can install an MLM on the same box as your NetView if you wish
(provided it is AIX or Solaris).  If you are on Windows or Linux then
APM
is a non-starter.
