HI- So, if each NIC interface has a different ip address, how does NEtview
know that those addresses are from the same physical server ?? Each
interface
is on it's own separate LAN segment, allowing for a segment to fail, and
still
allow backup routes to get to the server around the failure.

I do not think you need to use ruleset for this.  If you have multiple NICs
on a box and if you manage all these interfaces with NetView, you will get
Node Down event only when all interfaces (ie., all NICs) are down.
