Excellant Ray. I'm trying to think where resolving all 4 ip addresses to one
host name would cause trouble. What is the 'loadhosts' command ?

Yes SNMP should be running on the box with the quad NIC. That way NetView
will
automatically put the symbols for all 4 interfaces under the same computer
icon. If it's not running snmp, there are ways to teach NetView that all
the
interfaces belong to the same box: If all ip addresses resolve to the same
name, or if you use the loadhosts command you can do teach NetView that all
4
NICs are on the same box. However the best, most reliable method is to turn
on
SNMP on the box.
Then status will propogate up. If one interface goes down (red), the
computer
icon will turn from green to yellow, and will display a status of marginal.
If
all interfaces are down, the box will be marked down, have a status of
critical, you'll see a node down trap, and the icon will be red in the map.
