I have no idea about filesets. That is AIX's responsibility. The question is,
does installing this fileset give you a link or libraries so that there really
is something that matches our export in the netview script:
     export LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5:$LIBPATH
If /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5 does not exist, an you are having problems with the GUI
hanging, then you will have to obtain it and install it.

Is the following fileset adequate:-

# lslpp -L | grep R5
  X11.compat.lib.X11R5 4.3.2.0 C AIXwindows X11R5 Compatibility
# lslpp -f X11.compat.lib.X11R5
  Fileset File
  -------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
  X11.compat.lib.X11R5 4.3.2.0
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5/Motif1.2
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5/libXext.a
                        /usr/bin/X11r5/Motif1.2/uil.12
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5/libX11.a
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5/libXm.a
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5/Motif1.2/libUil.a
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5/libMrm.a
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5/Motif1.2/Uil12.imp
                        /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5/libXt.a

It does seem to contain a bit ( ie. a lot ) less than the X11.base.lib
fileset, but
I'm pretty sure this has been installed on all of the machines I've seen.

Does anybody have the complete procedure for verifying this requisite?

Thanks very much for your replies,
