George,
The /tmp/update.log reports snmpget fails in the install.
One of the reasons given is nvsecd is not running. I try
to run the snmpget with nvsecd stopped and it fails with
permission denied. This is not the behavior I see on my
other servers.
Frankly - I'm out of ideas now.
Thanks,

Check /usr/OV/security/cmds for unsecure versions of the
snmp utility
which run without the nvsecd daemon active.
Specifically, there is a snmpget_unsecure command.
Why do you think the problem is security related?
Regards,
Geo.

Subject: Re: [nv-l] Trying to upgrade to
7.1.4
I think the problem is NetView security related. Should I
be able to run snmpget with security off and the nvsecd
down? This will only work if nvsecd is running. nvauth
-login works and reports security is off.
Thanks

I did a similar upgrade but my platform was AIX 5.1 - no
problems. Have you checked that you have the AIX 5.2
prereq and that you are running the correct version of
the snmpd as doc'ed in the Release Notes?

Hello Everyone.
NV 7.1.3 on AIX 5.2 -
I'm trying to upgrade to 7.1.4 via the Framework
installation method.
The install gets to nearly the end and then fails with
errors. You can
actually start most of the daemons except nvlockd.
nvlockd fails
because the /etc/services does not have any NetView
services anymore.
I run all the checks before installation and I have even
increased my
NetView file system sizes to maximum possible size but I
still get the
following error:
Something went wrong:

tnvlab01:FAILED (soft error) .......
