Ray, snmpget will fail if nvsecd is not running. Only snmpget_unsecure will run. snmpget calls the security api. snmpget_unsecure does not use the security api. nvsecd implements the security api. If the api is not active, calls to it fail. I know you are not in control of what gets called and where from during installation. Please open a PMR with NetView support. 7.1.4 is fully supported now, even though not all customers have it yet. Regards, Geo. On Tue, 21 Oct 2003 14:29:58 -0400 George, The /tmp/update.log reports snmpget fails in the install. One of the reasons given is nvsecd is not running. I try to run the snmpget with nvsecd stopped and it fails with permission denied. This is not the behavior I see on my other servers. Frankly - I'm out of ideas now.
