if the interface is really up (can be pinged) but is reported down per SNMP this is either a bug in the routers snmp agent or a config problem on the router. Talk to your network guys. This is not a NetView problem. Oliver
Oliver, I ran the snmpwalk for the ifIndex and the integer returned was (4). Then I ran the snmpwalk for the status of the interface (4) and shows down. What do I do next? Oliver
Don and Blane, Yes, the SNMP status polling is used. What resources should I look for? The lines (interfaces) are Frame Relay to the branch (ATM in the backbone). I have seen this when resources are low on the NetView server, which may cause SNMP status polling to time out. When I check the interfaces I see that the WAN interface is red. When I test the interface (ping) the interface responds and becomes green. After some seconds it goes back to read state. Any ideas why this is happening will be greatly appreciated.
